Aunt Lou here.

I am quite the picky eater. I am married to a man who will eat just about anything though…except for peas. He almost has a phobia about peas. Anytime he gives me a hard time about not liking a certain food, I threaten to make him Tuna Casserole with extra peas for a month and he leaves me alone. 😉

I love tomato soup and ketchup and tomato flavor, but have a hard time with eating an actual tomato at times. But I threw caution to the wind and decided to give this Slow Cooker Swiss Steak a try. (Adventurous aren’t I?) And this recipe was definitely worth the try. The steak was wonderfully tender and the flavor of the onion and tomatoes came together perfectly. This Slow Cooker Swiss Steak is a dump and go recipe, so this will be short and sweet.

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the steak. Cut your steak into four serving size portions and place in your slow cooker. Sprinkle your onion soup mix evenly over the steak. Pour your stewed tomatoes over everything.Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or cook on high for 3-4 hours. And that is all there is to it! (We lovethis crock potfor this recipe.)

Don’t you just love a recipe that is this easy?! This would also be a great recipe for kids to help with when adding the ingredients. They are already measured out and can just be poured on. It is a help for you and a memory the child in your life will always cherish. Win win!

I haven’t tried doubling this, but think it could work. Make sure you watch it closely the first time you make it so you can adjust the cooking time as needed. Enjoy!

Hi! I haven’t made it yet, BUT will it make the round steak tender?

Or should I use a different cut of beef?

The best way to make it super tender it to cook it on low for the longer period of time. If it isn’t tender yet, give it a little longer and check again. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!

Hi, I just wanted to share. I’ve made this Swiss steak recipe twice. The first time I made it exactly as the recipe instructed. I loved it. It reminded me of my mom’s Swiss steak from my childhood. The only thing missing from memory was my mom always put green pepper and hers. So the second time, I had to diced up some green pepper and added it to the top and cooked according to your instructions. It turned out perfect. It’s so easy and good. I know my Mom put a lot of time and hard work into her but this a very EASY version. Thank you, it’s funny how good food connects you to good memories.

Can you cook this in a pressure cooker?

      HI Jennifer!

In order to make this in an electric pressure cooker, you would need to add liquid to the recipe. In general, a 6-quart electric pressure cooker needs at least a cup of liquid to come to pressure. I have not made this recipe in an electric pressure cooker yet, but if you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
