Instructions on how to make Instant Pot applesauce without lemon:

To begin, make sure that you peel and core all of the apples before you start. While some apple sauce recipes keep the peel, we are not for this one. Then chop the apple into small little bite-sized chunks.

Once that is all set, get out your handy dandy Instant Pot, plug it in and let’s get ready!

In the inner pot of the Instant Pot, place all of the ingredients. The chopped up granny smith apples, water, ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and a dash of salt.

Then using a spoon, gently stir everything together to make sure that all of the apples are coated in the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Now, after everything is mixed together, place the lid back on top of the Instant Pot, and turn the knob on top to the “SEALING” position.

Next, to get everything started, press the “MANUAL” or “PRESSURE COOK” or “HIGH PRESSURE” button (yours might vary depending on the model you have) and set the timer for 5 minutes.

Instant Pot Easy Cinnamon Applesauce Recipe (5)

After the time runs out, you are going to let the Instant Pot do a natural release for 10 minutes. What that means if you do not have to do anything actually. Just leave the Instant Pot as it is for 10 more minutes.

Then after those 10 minutes are up, you can now move the knob from “SEALING” to the “VENTING” position to allow it to a quick release of the remaining pressure in the Instant Pot.

Once the pin on the top drops down, then you know all of the pressure has been released and it is safe for you to take the lid off of the Instant Pot and then stir everything together another time.

You can serve the cinnamon apple sauce warm, or you can store it in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for 5-7 days.

If you are feeling really fancy, you could even get those reusable pouches like THESE and serve them to the kids in those (after it has cooled down of course).

Actually, I don't use any sugar at all and only half as much cinnamon. I also go with 5 Fuji apples and 4 Granny Smith for the perfect amount of sweetness. I love homemade applesauce. I did buy one of those apple peeler/corers to speed the process. I'll never buy commerical apple sause again. :-)

  2. Jackie says:

This recipe was my second instant pot make. Thank you for posting an easy straightforward recipe. Never imagined I'd make homemade apple sauce before trying this. I live in England. I made this with just over 1 kilo of Bramley cooking apples (which was nearly 3 pounds). When I opened the lid, it looked like stewed apple chunks until I stirred, then showed the texture you'd expect from apple sauce. I thought the cooking process would cause the apples to reduce but that didn't happen. The result was an nice, tart flavourful apple sauce. I look forward to trying more of your recipes.
