      Hi CB,
Of course! I always answer everyone’s comments. It just may take me a week or so. :)
I’m glad you are enjoying the blog and the recommendations. What’s it like trying to eat raw food in Argentina? I know there is a ton of red meat. Do you have access to lots of produce, as well?
Our products are going to be sold internationally in the future- we are working on that! But the video will be. :)
Make sure to try the truffles, they are super yummy!!!

      Hey Chris,

As a meal replacement I sip it out of a huge cup and actually eat the whole thing in one, extended time serving. :) (This is usually when I”m working on my home office) For me, it’s always to replace either a late either lunch or dinner, because in the late mornings and early afternoons I eat the green smoothie.
If you’re having it between meals, not as a replacement but to still have a detox drink, then it would probably be like 4 servings- and keep over 2 days. Have 2 cups a day, at least 20 minutes on either side of a meal, for 2 days.

    Hi Kim
Having a virtual conversation is awsome!…
According to your question on how is trying to have a raw food diet in Arg. .. its quite difficult cause this is a meat country (actually foreigners come here to taste our meat!). Moreover my family (who I live with) are completely fond of it, so they keep on telling me I only eat green leaves…..
what would you recommend me most to gain weight? ( besides avocados and nuts?)
Is it ok if I replace cacao for carob powder (its the only organic product i could get similar to it…)
    thanks once again!

      Hey cb-
I know it is hard when everyone around you is eating a certain way- and they can’t understand why you wouldn’t eat meat, etc. But that is awesome that you are sticking iwth it, b/c it really is the best thing for your health! And the best way to feel and look great.
I only use cacao! And being in S.A. you have it right there! I never use carob.
Avocados, nuts are bringing your weight up- you could also try eating more young coconuts if you have access to them. And if you really want to gain more weight, try drinking water with your meals in a higher quantity.
      Okay, all the best!! Kimberly

    Hi Kimberly!

Thanks for the recipe! I am so happy to have found your site. I am a vegetarian trying to incorporate more raw food into my diet. A lot of the raw food pages I have seen are really complicated or just not realistic for a busy city girl. You have given tons of great tips for beginners like me and I’m sure even an experienced raw foodie can learn so much from you!
    Thanks again,

Thanks for reaching out and emailing me!
That is awesome you want to add more raw food!! I meet many vegetarians that are really “starchaholics” and eat tons of grains and soy products but hardly any produce!

Have you tried any of the recipes yet?
Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing with everything.

      Hi Dearest Jaime,
I don’t want you to ever resort, or ever feel like you ever have to resort to fad diet pills, ever.
You are already perfect. But if you want to lose weight in the physical realm, I would tell you to really start consuming the detox smoothie AND green smoothie. They will help shift your body from a more acidic state to a more alkaline one— in an acidic state your body holds on to weight more, and is unbalanced. In an alkaline state, which you will start working towards a very efficiently managed body. You will also naturally stop feeling the need for such things as soda, diet co*ke, coffee, processed and synthetic sugars, etc.
Do a few shopping trips a week and get the apples, lemons, romaine, pears, etc. to get what you need to make these two smoothies.
Have raw food will keep your body from aging also. Your body will have enough energy to naturally digest the food and tend to your skin and hair. Fad diet pills are usually made of “uppers” which waste a lot of your body’s energy and are actually quite aging.
Please refer to the two recipes. Let me know if you have any questions following them.
Take care of yourself, and pleas keep in touch.
      xx Kimberly

Hi vibha! I’m responding bc this happened to me too when I first started. I thought I didn’t change my diet and I’m doing everything the same, but actually I did change. First I stopped eating at the correct times. Kimberly has a book out there that speaks to the science of eating at certain times of the day. A personal example is that if I don’t do warm lemon water first thing in the morning and just go straight to eating food, I experience more bloat. Also, I never changed “HOW” I eat. I used to chug the GGS, but now I chew on it and truly satisfy it. Did you know that the first step in the digestive process is in your mouth when your saliva mixes with the food to break it down?! So being disciplined in the HOW, WHEN and WHY has led me to crave more nutritious foods for my body and health related knowledge for my mind to grow too! Hope this helps!

    Hi Kimberly

Just saw your smoothie on good day LA and decided to look you up and try the detox thing.
I’m a 67 year old who has had a few too many martinis, and need some clearing out. My weight has stayed a steady 210 and i’m only 5’6″.

I’ll try to keep you abreast of how the smoothie is working.

      HI Kitty,
Besides having the Detox Smoothie, please definitely check out my blog, “The First Dozen: Easy Weight Loss Tips.” Also, you can use the Green Smoothie to replace some meals like lunch. If you want it to be more filling, add hemp protein.
The tips will help you lose weight- easy things like adding lemons to your diet every day (since they thin the bile and support the liver, your main fat-burning organ), etc. As you have more of these smoothies and less cooked food, and esp. processed oils, it will help!
I would highly recommend getting some colonics! Let me know if you are looking for someone in LA, my colon hydrotherapist has a friend there I think…
Colonics will help move all that waste and acid in your body out- and will help you lose weight in a major way.

Please keep in touch with me on how you are doing!!!
      All my best,
      Kimberly

    Hello, Kimberly

I’m interested in trying your detox smoothie.( I saw you on good day la) I had my gallbladder removed about two years ago and I was wondering if I can use tumeric? I did some research about tumeric and the articles stated that people with gallstones shouldn’t use tumeric but,it didn’t say anything about people without gallbladders. I hope I can drink the deotx smoothie it sounds delicious and healthy. Please let me know your opinion as soon as you get a chance.

      Hi Marisela!

You should ask your doctor about anything new since you’ve had an operation— but I think it is totally fine. My mother had her gallbladder removed also, and I make her stuff with turmeric all the time!
It is a very good habit to have it once a week, at least!

      Hi Mildred!

Please read my post called “My Glowing Green Smoothie.”

I definitely recommend drinking the Green Smoothie every day- as getting alkaline, mineralizing greens into the diet daily is one of the most important things for your diet.
You should try to have the Detox Smoothie once every week, and even 3 times a week to really flush the liver and blood.
But so you don’t get smoothied- out by having TWO every day, again the Green Smoothie is the best daily one.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!

    2 questions:

    1. What do you think of using Udo’s 3-6-9 oil if I don’t have Flax oil?

    2. Do you leave the lemon seeds in to be blended with the smoothie? My vitamix instructions/video says it’s ok to leave them in. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this.

    Thx!

      Hi Jojo!

I’m not sure what that oil is…you can also substitute olive oil (be sure not to use any fish oils).

You can leave the lemon seeds in but I wouldn’t because they have a bitter taste! I WOULD suggest scraping out the pith and including that (the white inner part of the lemon), because there is a lot of Vitamin C in that part of the lemon.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi Kimberly,

Thanks for posting the smoothie recipes. I make the detox smoothie at the beginning of the week and make a green smoothie the rest of the week. I am having fun changing the green smoothies up a little bit for variety. If I don’t have my smoothie each day I find myself craving it! Because of your blog I now eat a 50% raw diet and am feeling great. I am working towards a more complete raw diet. I am just not there, yet. I have cut out caffeine, diet sodas, and dairy completely. Breakfast and lunch are raw and dinner is usually healthy but does include cooked foods. I am sleeping better than I ever have and have lots more energy. I also use The Solution and eagerly await the arrival of your cleanser. If you ever decide to write a book or cookbook, it would be fabulous as you have been such an inspiration to me. Thank you so much! I look forward to your next post.

Wow!!! That is awesome!! That is so great that you are experimenting and changing up the green smoothie. That’s what it is all about, otherwise it gets old. I really like switching the herbs, though cilantro is still my fav. And now that spinach is in season, I throw that in a lot also!
I am so happy to hear about your dietary changes, and that you are sleeping better and your energy is up too!!! As you continue on your path, I am sure you will feel better and better.
And Yay that you use The Solution. Yes, more products are coming!
I can’t wait to write some books. I actually have 2 that are in my head right now.

Can I replace flax oil with ground flax seeds? It’s really difficult to find flax oil in France, but I do have organic whole seeds. How many tablespoons should I add?

      Hey Ophélie,
You can replace the flax oil with olive oil. The point is to have a lubricator to move the toxins along- the apples and pears are already creating fiber in the smoothie, so we don’t need the flax seeds for this one.

And II know you have olive oil in France!! :)

        Hi Kimberly,

thanks for answering. I thought oil could have this role of lubricator but I wasn’t sure. I’m thinking of using camelina oil, which is full of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxydants. Do you know this oil? It’s much easier to find here, because it’s much more stable than flax oil.

I’ll try to make the Detox smoothie tomorrow morning!

      Hi Eric!
I use the peel in certain other recipes, but for this recipe, with the turmeric, I think the taste is too sour. But if you like the taste, by all means, use through them in there! Try to use organic lemons though for sure, if you are going to do that.

Yes, about 2 days. Maybe a little bit less than the Green Smoothie since it is all fruit-based, and may break down a little faster than the mix with Greens.
The Green Smoothie is the main focus, the one you should try to drink as many times a week as possible, with the Detox Smoothie as a side note.

Good to know. I’ve been drinking the green smoothies since I saw you on GMA. They seem to be doing the trick. I put some carrots in mine the other morning and it cut the powerful herbs down a bit. Everyone at work makes fun of me for drinking what they refer to as “the green sludge” but I think it’s quite fantastic. I also made your macaroon recipe and they were sooooo awesome. My work peeps left me alone for a day about my strange (vegan)eating habits after they tried them.

The green sludge will make more changes and improvement than anything else! As girls, I know that other women can be the wierdest and hardest about inquiring about what you are eating if you eat out with them, why are you doing this or that, etc. It is important to just focus on yourself, say things like “This is how I feel best,” Or “this works for me!” If you don’t sound preachy or like you are trying to “teach” anyone or show them that they are wrong, what can they possibly say?? :)
Please pass the blog to your friends and help us spread the word!

Question…I do become very hungry about an hour after the drink and have to have something else for breakfast, then I sometimes get a light headed feeling and headache for an hour or two. Any thoughts on that?

      HI Skip,
It sounds like the headache is a Detox headache. The Green Smoothie is very alkaline and powerful, so it will start to stir up a lot.
You should drink the Green Smoothie, then eat something afterwards for now- like wholegrain cereal, sprouted bread, raw nuts, etc. The key is to slowing down the cleansing process so that it is in a manageable time frame- not too fast! Steady and not too drastic wins the race.
In a few months, as your body shifts more, you may find the Green Smoothie is all you need, but for now do the foods after it.

Also, is there anything else that I can add or sub in this green smoothie?

With the green smoothie can we juice the contents drinking it is like eating relish and the gag effect happens. I have a real good juicer so can I do a juice rather than the smoothie?

      Hi Willgina,
You can definitely juice the contents, and make a green juice, which is fabulous. I start people on green smoothies because the fiber is important to help sweep out toxins, and keeps people full, as they are so filling because of the fiber. We want this to be a meal replacement for breakfast. Also, when you are really acidic, the shock of juice can kick up too many toxins too fast in your system. And some people really like the smoothie! But if you are NOT one of those people, then go for the juice!

    Hi Kim=)
I have made the detox smoothie a couple of times now, I really like the taste of it. My question is how much of it should I be drinking? I use a regular blender which is filled to the top with the smoothie so I can’t possibly drink the whole thing in one serving. Should I drink half of in the morning and half throughout the rest of the day? Can I just drink it all day long? I sure don’t want it to go to waste.

    Hi Kimberly,
We have been drinking your green smoothie for 3 weeks and we luv it. We have tried combining the daily smoothie and the weekly smoothie. Is there any reason why we should not have the flax seed oil and turmeric daily? Can you also point me to a source where I can find out more about what not to eat, what not to mix (like fruits and roots), and what we should mix together to get the best out of the foods we are eating.

Thank you for all your info and help.

      HI Jeanann,

That is awesome you are digging the smoothies!! Yay!!

You can check with your doctor about any issues, since I don’t know your medical background. But in general, there shouldn’t be an issue having turmeric and flax oil every day- you can put both in salads and smoothies. I like reading a lot of research papers and findings regarding the food pairings, but there is an old school book that I believe has some good info on that. It’s called Fit for LIfe. I can’t say I’ve read it but I own a copy and I heard it is somewhat helpful.
First off, I recommend you read The China Project first before anything!!
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

    Hi Kim,
I love your website and am so glad I discovered it. I tried the detox smoothie for the first time this morning after quite a toxic weekend and it made me feel so good. I could actually feel my cells being replenished. I added almond oil instead of flax oil because it is impossible to find flax oil here in Chile. I was just wondering what are the benefits of putting sea salt in it. Thanks so much. Take Care.

I can’t wait to try out this smoothie recipe. Would it be okay to use Himalayan pink crystal salt in place of Celtic sea salt? Also, I’m watching my sugar intake, so what do you think about using less fruit ( like using 2 green apples and just one pear, and a bit of stevia)?

    Hi Kimberly!

I love your site and all your fun smoothie recipes! Sometimes, especially with the weekly detox smoothie, I find I can’t fit as much water in the blender per the recipe. I’m wondering if it’s the size of my blender or the size of the ingredients I’m putting in (regular vs. organic maybe)? How many oz. does your blender hold?

    Thanks!

Hi Kimberly. I have enjoyed your green smoothie in the past and found I lost weight. I let life’s stresses get in the way and gained that, and more, back due to binging on really bad foods. I’m on the wagon again and looking forward to the delicious and healing effects of the green smoothie. Today I started for the first time with the detox smoothie. I does make a whole lot so I’m wondering; should I just drink all of it in the course of one day in lieu of eating (sort of as a mini-fast) or should I split it up over a few days? Thanks for you recipes. They really are life changing. I won’t slip up again.

I had never heard of Turmeric before but I just looked it up and says not to use if you have gallstones which I do have. Is there something I can use to replace? Or should I just eliminate?

Saw your segment this morning on the Today show and decided to try this and the green smoothie. Starting the smoothie tomorrow, going to wait on this detox until I find out about the Turmeric

    Hi Kim!
I just heard of your website and have been on it nonstop since. I am definitely going to get the book but I have a few questions and am too excited to wait! What is the difference between the green smoothie and the detox smoothie? I know green is every day and detox once a week. Can you have them both on the same day? Also I do not have a VitaMix do you have any other blender suggestions? Thanks for all of this wonderful information.

      Hi Katie,
The name “detox smoothie” is a bit confusing, since the GGS is truly the daily detox. I meant to imply the cleansing properties of the combo of ginger, lemon and cayenne pepper, but it is not a replacement. You can have it once a week or so, if you don’t have a candida issue and are not in the Blossoming Beauty Phase.
Just get the best blender you can afford, and add water first then chop up the produce into small pieces and add slowly.
      xx Kimberly

I noticed that you said you use it as a meal replacement sipped over time as an extended release serving. That is the best way for me to get my nutrients. I have never asked a professional, can one live off smoothies? I noticed you said you use the green in the morning and the detox in the afternoon. I’ve always felt my healthiest when I replace breakfast and lunch with smoothies. I would rather replace all meals with smoothies.

    Hi Kim,
I’m from Brazil, and I Lived in Kansas for 1 year and gain a lot of weight. Today I’m normal, I lost 88 pounds..but I still like to take care of myself, because I know that this damage will walk with me for sometime.

So I always liked salads, and all natural way of eating. I have been drinking your GGS every morning, and having a salad for lunch and dinner, but sometimes I’m just SO tired of eating greens… not that I don’t like, but I don’t feel esteem by them.
So is this Smoothie good for me to eat at dinner? Can I switch the salad for this?
ps: do I need the salt? I don’t eat salt at all…

Thank you a lot, you are great!!!!
I really don’t need caffeine anymore!!!

Just wondering two things, 1. with the GGS, is it OK to add some Acai berry powder? i don’t want to take away from anything else in the smoothie.
    2. I noticed you mentioned for the detox smoothie to not have if you have candida? Why is this?
Thank you again, I have ordered your book and waiting for it to arrive…cant wait to read it

Hey kim i reallyyyyyy am in need of some advice as i began my vegan journey after seeing how actress Alicia Silverstone cleared her acne on Oprah and i felt it was the right thing for me. I was very good about cutting out processed foods and my acne was somewhat better but i didnt have the results i wanted. i then came across your book and could feel the true intentions behind it and trusted it. i followed it for a month but i lost A LOT of weight on accident, i think i got too carried away with the technicalities and lost sight of having fun with it. so i think the weight loss was just a wake up call, and my skin did get better! but then from family pressure i started binging on everything from sweets, to white flour…stuff i didn’t even crave. so now my skin is breaking out and i was wondering if the envision beauty moisturizer would help with break outs? or dry skin? because ive tried so many products that are just out there to sell and am so hesistant, i would really like a personal consultation!

    Hi Kimberly,

If I could live on smoothies I would! I’ve been drinking the GGS for breakfast/snacks for over a week now… love it! I want to lose weight in a timely fashion (for my upcoming wedding this summer!) as well as clear up my skin. So, what are your thoughts on having a smoothie for every meal over the course of a few weeks?! I just find smoothies the easiest thing to do. I do have your book and have tried some raw soup recipes but not particularly fond of them yet. Do you have any comments you could share with me about going on a short term all smoothie diet?

PS – Every time I drink the Weekly Detox Smoothie I feel nauseated. I’ve been trying to drink the whole recipe at one meal, but can never quite finish it either. Should I divide it into two and finish the meal with something light?

    Hi Kim,
I just purchased my Vitamix, something I’ve been wanting for so long, and now I’m looking for some green detox recipes.
I am over weight, and I would like to loose some weight and also detox, etc.
I just want to give my body the best.
But I’m reading online about the risks of going on a green diet, detox,.
So my question to you is: is it safe to go on a green diet? Detox? And for how long?
    And only smoothies?
Or can I also eat other foods? Like: couscous salad with lots of cucumber, onions, radish ,etc…
Kale salad, and you get the idea.
I just don’t want to eat any meat again, and if. I do I would like to have it may be twice a year,or even once.
But I’m sure after few month into the green detox,or diet I will not want the meat ever again.
So what would you recommend me? What kind of smoothie? That helps me shed lots of lb.
And for how long? Should. Combine it with other foods?
    Or just green smoothies?
    Thank you in advance.
