You, guys! I have just discovered the wonders of orange lemon marmalade and I must confess, I’m pretty addicted now! This brightly colored, bitter-sweet, rich orange and lemon marmalade is the only ingredient I will need this summer, in all of my recipes! Ok, maybe not all but I’m definitely using this amazing orange lemon marmalade in many of my cookies this summer!

I’ve just spread a little bit of this yumminess on my buttered toast and I tell ya’! I’ll have a really hard time staying away from all this goodness with every breakfast! A girl’s gotta watch her waistline, right?

This orange lemon marmalade is soo good you’ll want to use it in all sorts of recipes! It’s the perfect ingredient for summery desserts (I have one in the making, insanely easy to make and tastes amazing you don’t want to miss this recipe, so be sure to come back!). But woks just as great in recipes that are a little more sophisticated, like orange chicken drums (another one in the making, simply a match from heaven!) or orange pork chops.

The thing that surprised me the most about thiseasy orange marmalade recipe is that Ellie fell in love with it too almost instantly. As soon as the marmalade was cool enough to be eaten, she tasted it and admitted that even though she thought I’m cooking crap all of this time (I laughed so hard at this, I literally cracked my pants!), she was wrong and she loves the end result. And that maybe I should incorporate this orange lemon marmalade in more desserts which I obviously have to make more often since I have so much marmalade. We don’t want all that goodness to go to waste don’t we? See where this goes?? Smarty pants, this little miss!

And to show her what a good mother I am, I made those two recipes mentioned above which I’ll be posting in the following weeks. I’m not going to limit myself to these two though since yeah, I do have a good batch of this citrus marmalade, so expect more recipes using this wonderful ingredient. But for now, let’s see how easy it is to make thissimple orange marmalade recipe.

My recipe is not super sweet, I wanted the marmalade to be more on the bitter side. But if bitter is not your cup of tea feel free to double the sugar when making your own marmalade.

  • Dice citrus peel and add to a pot together with 3 cups of water. Boil for 10 minutes.
  • Place a sieve over the pot and strain the citrus juice mix into the pot.
  • Bring to a boil then simmer for 40 minutes.
  • While the fruit is cooking prepare the jars as indicated here. Set aside when done.
  • Remove the pot with the cooking citrus from stove and add to a blender. Mix until smooth. Note: you may need to do this step in batches, depending on how large your blender is.
  • Return the puree to the pot, and simmer over low heat for 15-20 more minutes or until the marmalade is thick enough, as preferred, and darkens in color. You may need to adjust the heat in order to prevent boil over and you’ll need to stir frequently. Be careful if not using a large pot, as the mixture will bubble a lot and will make a big mess on and around your stove. Also make sure you protect your hands and arms.
  • Pre heat oven at 360 F
  • Transfer marmalade to the prepared jars. Place a kitchen towel to the bottom of a large pot and add the jars. Add water as much as the pot can hold then place it in the oven and leave to boil for 10 minutes. Do not boil the lids as this will damage their adhesive rings so make sure the water in thee pot is below the lids. Leave to cool completely in the oven.
  • Unopened marmalade will last up to 6 months. Once opened, store in the fridge.
